The full story
Faerie Queen Userios – Queen of the Fey Court
A powerful and once beloved Fairie Monarch of the Spotless Wood. Userios ruled her small swathe of the forest with a loving but stern hand, and though she would often court mischief against trespassers and occasionally mortals of the True World, it was always harmless. Though in recent times, it seemed that a flair of malice began to taint her and her subjects, those within the Steinved Forest of Formen. When the Liturium War erupted and the mages of Leacianus rained destruction upon her woods, something broke inside Userios, the Monarch’s kingdom reduced to ruin, her sanity crumbling with it.
At first the spiral of madness was quiet, subtle. Greater shows of wrath than before, a more demanding presence among her subjects, but it turned more dire as time passed. Those who did not bow to her will were forced to bend to it, as she dominated their minds. Faenror, the ancient sentinel of her woods, a son of Renmaeth himself, was bound to her will, losing his own as madness seemingly took him. It was this that alerted the Druids to the ailments plaguing the forest as they tried to heal it. Anomalies from the destroyed fonts of Breath in Leacianus had begun to creep into Steinved, and with it, they believed powerful forms of Breath had begun corrupting Userios’ mind.
Yet before they could hope to intervene, the Monarch Faerie, in a bid to replace her subjects lost in war, took to the nearby village of Nörrgus, where she ensnared the minds and bodies of the entire populace. Into the woods she marched them, transporting them into the Feyworld, the mirrored world beneath Tharador she and her spritely kindred called home. Now she is refusing to release them, at the behest of the Feywalkers and Druids that have sought her out, threatening to execute all her new subjects if even one should be stolen or betray her. She did not see these villagers as captives, but as her loyal subjects, an illusion created for herself. Now the Fey Queen’s madness grows each day, and with it, the danger to the villagers grows too. It is only a matter of time before she snaps, and all their lives are forfeited one way or another.
