Treneal – The Resilient
Once known as Bronson by family and friends, that was a life Treneal was forced to leave behind. A working-class man, working as a lowly logger in one of Baldur’s northern timber companies. On a standard contract within Baldur’s north, near the Nan Thalian border his working-class life was ended. Enormous monstrosities twisted with root, metal and stone set siege to their logging camp. The armed guards held no match against the forest’s guardians and were promptly cut down in their attempted defense, the slaughter quickly moving to the workers and officers soon after. Bronson however held his ground, dropped his axe and faced the creatures, dropping to one knee and staring nature’s wrath in the eyes.
Thus he was asked to rise by Gwynevel as her spirit stepped through the carnage. Pledging himself to Gwynevel, he claimed he saw the error now of the ways of men, readying to abandon his family in Edimir for his own life to be dedicated to Gwynevel. The forest spirit accepted the logger’s pledge, allowing him to rise as Treneal and promising him that his family would not go hungry nor be punished for his pledge. Weekly she would see that large quantities of fruit and other treasures of the forest would be sent to them in the pouch of a faerie dragon, invisible to the eyes of all.
Thus with no guilt on his conscience and knowing his family to be cared for, Treneal has seen out over a century in service to Gwynevel. Drinking from the sap of the great Estel trees, his life is prolonged, his body enlarged and hardened. In his fight against Gwynevel’s brother, Melwyn, Treneal was maimed. Though in place of his missing arm Gwynevel wove him a new arm of timber and stone, able to change its form at will into whatever fitting weapon Treneal required at the time.
