Shinkoryu – Eastern Crimson Dragon
Shinkoryu was once a guardian of the Mamori Mountains, an ancient and powerful dragon who had long protected the lands of Uikku from threats both mortal and divine. His crimson scales shimmered like fire beneath the sunlight, and his presence in the mountains was seen as a blessing by those who lived beneath his watch. For centuries, Shinkoryu kept the peace, ensuring that no evil would dare disturb the sacred lands under his care. But even Shinkoryu’s strength and foresight were no match for the cunning of Lian She and her Cult of the Coiled Serpent. When the cult made the Mamori Mountains one of their many secretive strongholds, Shinkoryu sensed the disturbance the darkness that had crept into his home, and prepared to repel the invaders. However, before he could act, Lian She’s dark magic ensnared his mind and bound the mighty dragon to her will, twisting him into a puppet for the cult’s ambitions.
Under Lian She’s control, Shinkoryu became a weapon, a tool for the cult to further entrench themselves in Uikku. His once noble purpose was corrupted, and where he had once been the protector of the mountains, he now served as their greatest threat. The cult used him to secure their foothold, eliminating any resistance that dared to stand in their way. The people who once saw Shinkoryu as their protector now viewed him with fear, unaware that the dragon was fighting a battle within his own mind, his true self trapped beneath the layers of Lian She’s insidious magic. When the cult was forced to flee Uikku for Tharador, Shinkoryu was once again used as a tool, becoming their first means of crossing the vast ocean to their new base of operations. Bound by the same magic that had imprisoned him in Uikku, the dragon ferried the cult across the sea. Now, in the strange lands of Tharador, Shinkoryu remains under Lian She’s control, a captive dragon whose true potential is locked away.
Yet there remains a glimmer of hope. If the spell that binds Shinkoryu could be broken, the crimson dragon could once again become the powerful ally he was meant to be. His rage at being manipulated for so long would make him a formidable force against the Cult of the Coiled Serpent, and his knowledge of their tactics and strongholds could turn the tide in the battle against them. But until that day comes, Shinkoryu remains a tragic figure, a dragon of great power reduced to a pawn in a larger game, waiting for the moment when he can reclaim his freedom and his honor.
